Dear KDHS members and friendsThe first Kilrush & District Historical Society lecture of the 2017/8 season will be delivered by the society's secretary Paul O'Brien. In a change to the original schedule, the topic will be 'The grand old man of the Australian Parliament': The Hon. John Meagher (1836-1920), M.L.C., K.C.S.G. The Arthur family were renowned photographers based in Ennistymon, County Clare, from the mid-19th Century to the 1940s. In their studio in Ennistymon, Joseph William, and his children Joseph, John, William and Catherine, created a wide ranging collection of images of County Clare on glass plate negatives and film. At various times, the Arthur family also had studios in Ennis, Miltown Malbay, Kilkee and Lisdoonvarna.If you have a photograph by any of the Arthurs, Clare Roots Society would welcome a copy.
